Need a Wake-On-Lan button in the GUI
(I can't believe it's not already there?)
Why would you want the untangle to go to sleep?
@Andy It's not to wake the Untangle box, it's to wake clients in your network.
This is a feature I have been waiting for. When the only box you can log onto is the remote Untangle, it makes sense that to work on any remote PC it needs to be switched on. Untangle should be able to WOL any PC on the remote network via a Layer 2 Magic Packet, as these packets do not transfer over a VPN link. Untangle could generate these packets as it knows the MAC address and IP addresses of all devices on its LAN.
A WOL feature would be an essential tool for remote administrators to manage the PC's on the remote LAN. Untangle already knows the devices IP and MAC addresses. It would be easy to add this feature to select a PC from a list and send a magic packet to wake it up. I have been waiting for this feature for a very long time. It should be an essential part of an Untangle box and the software version. Please make this happen.
Love Untangle but, I was a bit taken back migrating from pfsense, to find out there is no built in wake on lan feature/app for untangle.
would be cool to be able to click on any listing in the DHCP server screen and wake it.
Agree with the above. Would make recovering from a power failure much easier, especially now with work from home and less people being in the office. Would save me trips to the office to just boot PCs. At minimum getting the servers on would be clutch.
Yes Please. And if there is not already, a guest user to have this privilege only to allow end users to wake up their computers.
This would make sending WOL commands soo much easier. The Untangle has the MAC and the IP of the device. all it needs to do is broadcast the packet. This would be VERY helpful esp with offices being empty and no one on-site to power up devices if theres a power outage.
