Internet speed test for the internet and for local network
IPERF for LAN
There is a very basic one at ipaddress/admin/index.do#config/network/troubleshooting/download . But yes it would be a nice tool because untangle could take measurements of all traffic not just what is in a browser on the network.
It would be great to have a running log for interface speed tests built into Untangle. I presently use Splunk for this, but would be a nice add.
You can download the speedtest CLI from here:https://pkgs.org/download/speedtest-cli
This would be a very useful add-on. I know from the POV of folks in the USA, it might be uncommon to see your WAN connection change speed, but in other parts of the world, we experience changes in WAN connections all the time. I finally detected an issue today that has probably been going on for a few days now. My WAN2 went down by 90% of its normal speed. If I had a speed test that ran every hour or so, it would have detected the change or at least displayed the speed test results in the dashbo
Every ISP has network issues, even in the USA. Having a set of events around network quality (latency, BW) would be very helpful when users complain about "the network is slow". Being coupled to downdetector.com might also be useful, though not essential IMO.
Speedtests would be of great help when there's a need to discuss service quality with your ISP. Maybe this suggestion should be merged with other topics regarding download and upload tests.
It would be nice if this linked with Bandwidth Control/QoS, with an option to set auto speed tests and use that recorded bandwidth to base QoS on.
Would be a very useful feature especially if it could alert on a threshold reduction, indicating a ISP issue before a flood of support calls to the help desk saying the "network is down!"
Monitoring latency too would be great
